FAQ

DO YOU OFFER REMOTE OR IN-PERSON SESSIONS?

We offer both in-person and virtual sessions. Our address is 1309 St Johns Bluff Rd N, STE 7, Jacksonville, FL 32225.

what is the cost and DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

At Jacksonville Therapy, we’ve chosen this private-pay model intentionally because it offers greater privacy, flexibility, and a higher standard of care for our clients. Below, you’ll find more details on why this approach might be the right fit for you.

How Does Private-Pay Counseling Work? Private-pay counseling means you pay directly for your sessions, bypassing insurance entirely. This model offers several important advantages:

  • You control your treatment without insurance limitations

  • You can still request out of network reimbursement from your provider

  • No required diagnosis. Your therapist doesn’t need to label you with a mental health disorder just to initiate treatment

  • Access to a broader range of therapeutic modalities beyond those limited by insurance coverage

  • Greater privacy as your personal information and treatment details are not shared with insurance companies

  • Flexible scheduling so you and your therapist decide what frequency and duration work best, not your insurance provider

  • Supports a wide range of services, including those frequently excluded or limited by insurance coverage (e.g., couples therapy, coaching, and personal growth work)

  • Continuity of care means you don’t risk losing access if your insurance plan changes

  • Sessions are $150 each, with clear, upfront pricing and no surprise bills

Private-pay therapy often provides greater overall value by eliminating co-pays, deductibles, session caps, and the restrictive limitations commonly imposed by insurance plans.

WHAT CAN THERAPY HELP ME WITH?

Therapy provides support and assistance for a wide range of challenges individuals and couples may face in their lives. It can help manage anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues, to name a few, offering techniques to improve overall well-being. Additionally, therapy facilitates self-exploration, personal growth, and the development of healthier coping mechanisms, empowering individuals to navigate life's challenges more effectively.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I NEED THERAPY?

If you're facing distress, struggling in daily functioning, or feeling unsatisfied in your personal or relational life, therapy can be very beneficial. Taking the initiative to seek professional assistance is a proactive approach to addressing and resolving these challenges.

BENEFITS OF WORKING WITH A Licensed CLINICIAN?

Licensed therapists have completed formal education, training, and supervised clinical experience, equipping them with the expertise to provide effective counseling services. They adhere to strict professional standards and are regulated by state licensing boards, ensuring accountability and ethical conduct. While unlicensed therapists can offer counseling services, they may lack the same level of training and oversight, potentially impacting the quality of the therapy experience.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM MY FIRST THERAPY SESSION?

During your initial session, we'll discuss your concerns, goals, and any questions you may have. I'll explain the therapeutic process, establish a comfortable rapport, and collaborate with you to create a treatment plan that addresses your specific needs.

IS EVERYTHING DISCUSSED CONFIDENTIAL?

Absolutely. Confidentiality plays a vital role in therapy. By law, I am required to maintain the confidentiality of our conversations, with only a few exceptions such as when there is an imminent risk of harm to yourself or others. We will delve deeper into confidentiality during your initial session, and you will receive information about the boundaries of confidentiality in your initial paperwork.

WHAT ARE SOME TECHNIQUES YOU USE?

I understand that a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy is ineffective because each individual and couple is unique. My therapeutic approach is grounded in a humanistic foundation, more specifically Christian humanism, which is rooted in Judeo-Christian values. I incorporate evidence-based therapy modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI).

For couples therapy I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Attachment Theory, and principles from The Gottman Institute.
